Teak Bench Before & After

This is a recent refurbished furniture project from this weekend. It is a pure teak bench with clean lines, I sanded it, applied a clear coat of teak oil and updated the cushion with a pop of colour.

Before the make-over this bench was tired and neglected:

After an afternoon of lightly sanding and changing the tired leatherette to a bright 100% cotton fabric, this bench is the perfect accent to a narrow entryway or mudroom. Teak furniture, with its clean lines, is one of my favourite woods.

Table-escapes

Table-escapes-650-square-feet-home-staging-servicesAWonderful and exciting table setting can make your entire event the statement of the year.  It makes your guests feel important since you’ve taken the time to set an evening of fun.

If you’ve decided on creating a table-escape, here are a few tips:

  1. Open space living: The surrounding area should also subtly blend in with your design or theme of your table-escape.
  2. Starting point: Select a main colour or theme. This could be as simple as your table-cloth or sea shell that is the launching point for your table setting.
  3. Food: As much as center pieces are beautiful, completely filling the table with decorations means more work for you when it’s time to eat.
  4. Start early: Creating a beautiful table takes time and money.
  5. Plates: You will need either a solid or white plate to make sure the layering is pleasing to the eye and that it blends well with your tablecloth.
  6. Build as you go: No need to have your first table-escape complete.
